Joseph C. London

Joseph C. London, 83, of Loyalsock Township, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012, at the Williamsport Home.

He was born March 27, 1929, in Jersey Shore, the son of Joseph A. and Bess (Gladfelter) London.

Joseph married the former Dorothy Shafer on Dec. 21, 1950, in the Hepburn Baptist Church where they are both members.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Early in his life, he and his father operated London's DeSoto-Chrysler Auto Sales in Jersey Shore. He worked for 13 years at Sylvania and was an electronics teacher at W.A.C.C. for 6 years. For 10 years he taught electronics at Mon Valley Vo-tech in Charleroi and retired from Greene County Voc Tech, he taught Electrical Occupational.

Joseph was a member of the LaBelle Vallee Lodge No. 232, Williamsport Consistory, the High Twelve of Mid Florida Lakes and the Tiadaghton Chapter S.A.R., the Williamsport Riding Club and he enjoyed genealogy.

Surviving besides his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, are two sons, Joseph Harold London of Loyalsock and Jack Allen London of Amity; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with several cousins.

In keeping with Joseph's wishes, a graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.

His family suggests contributions can be made to the Bloomingrove Historical Society, 297 Dunkard Church Road, Cogan Station, PA 17728, or the Hepburn Baptist Church, 2917 Pleasant Valley Road, Cogan Station, PA 17728.

Arrangements are being handled by the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd. "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.
