Sobriety Checkpoint

May 7, 2012

PHILIP A. HOLMES/Sun-Gazette
The Lycoming County DUI Task Force conducted a sobriety checkpoint overnight Friday at Arch Street and Reach Road in the city. Six motorists were arrested for drunk driving, including one whose license was suspended for a prior DUI conviction, William Solomon, task force coordinator, said Sunday night. More than 100 drivers were stopped, but most, like the one above, were sent on their way without any problem. “It’s a good thing what they’re doing,” said one woman, referring to the police, as she watched the action from her front porch. On the Sun-Gazette website, see a video of Solomon being interviewed at the checkpoint.
