CTL seeks support to match funds for ‘Ray of Light’ grant

Area residents Jerry and Joy Walls always have taken an interest in youth and the arts in the community.

For more than 25 years, Joy has been involved in the Odyssey of the Mind creative competitions for youth development and special education initiatives.

Jerry has supported Joy's OM efforts and also has been a board member of the Public Art Academy, which brought Lycoming County's inspiration mural to downtown and has developed several other public art projects.

The Walls have established a challenge grant initiative with the Community Theatre League, 100 W. Third St., and are asking community members to match their $1,000 gift to CTL's annual "Ray of Light Awards" program.

Developed by CTL, the annual "Ray of Light Awards" program celebrates the efforts of high school music and drama programs, recognizing the impact that theater-music activities have on the development of young adults.

The Sun-Gazette will feature this year's "Ray of Light Awards" event, which will be held May 20 at the Community Theatre, in next week's On the Arts section.
