In conjunction with the American Hiking Society, the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will hold a number of events on June 2 in honor of National Trails Day.
The events look to bring outdoor enthusiasts across the state together to celebrate Pennsylvania's trail system and its hundreds of supporters and volunteers.
More than 2,000 nationwide events will take place including trail maintenance, hiking, paddling, biking, horseback riding, bird watching, running, trail celebrations and more.
Long-distance hikers and evening strollers alike are encouraged to experience, appreciate and share the state's natural places by connecting with local outdoor clubs, businesses, community groups, and parks and recreation departments as well as state and federal land managing agencies.
Those interested can join DCNR and dozens of sponsors on a National Trails Day event. Hikers also can share what they're doing and publicize their own National Trails Day event by visiting the following website and registering to participate. For more information, visit ExplorePATrails.com.
