Motorcycle ride to benefit South dog park, K9 unit

May 15, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

The friends of Paws Park organization in South Williamsport has teamed up with the Knight Crew Motorcycle Club to host their first benefit motorcycle ride - Dog Gone MC Ride 2012.

The event will be May 19 with registration from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Lions Pavilion at the South Williamsport Community Park, where a barbecue chicken dinner is included in the registration fee.

Proceeds from the event will be split between Paws Park and the South Williamsport Police Department K9 unit.

Route maps will be distributed at registration. The ride is open to all vehicles.

Event organizer Brenda Wagner, who is a Paws Park member, said she thought a motorcycle ride would be a good idea for a fundraiser.

"We teamed up with the (Knight Crew), and that's why we called it the Dog Gone MC Ride 2012," she said. "We're hoping to make it an annual event."

A disc jockey will be on hand providing musical entertainment and vendor tables will be staffed by Paws Park and the Knight Crew Motorcycle Club.

There also will be a blessing of the bikes tent, and Chinese and silent auctions with items donated by local businesses.

South Williamsport Police Officer Devin Thompson and K9 Officer Dany will conduct demonstrations at about 12:45 p.m.
