Margaret S. Johns, 97, of State College, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born Sept. 28, 1914, in Canton, she was a daughter of the late Nelson C. and Hazel A. Spencer Stull. She married Wilbur W. Johns on Feb. 14, 1953, who preceded her in death on May 12, 1983.
She is survived by four children, Thomas N. Moran and his wife, Anita R., of Las Vegas, Nev.; Louise A. Neu, and her husband, Ross A. of Troy; Ralph C. Johns and his wife, Sarah J. of Mansfield; and Linda Ann Johns of Lantana, Fla. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Margaret was a graduate of Ralston High School and went on to receive her bachelor's degree at Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y. and also received her teacher's certification at Penn State University.
She was previously employed by the Ralston School System and 1st National of Ralston.
Margaret was a member of the PEO Sisterhood for 50 years and a member of Roseville United Methodist Church of Mansfield and she attended the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church in State College. She had a love of classical music and played the violin.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012, and 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Grace Marie Ransom officiating. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Wildwood Cemetery in Williamsport, Pa.
