Hats off to the three Township Supervisors of Watson Township and Lycoming County Judge Dudley Anderson for denying PGE Company from creating a Water Transfer Station in Watson Township located at Tombs Run up Pine Creek along Route 44. Their request for a business office on this site should also be turned down, as was the Water Transfer Station. Routes 44 and 414 up Pine Creek Valley are the only highways available for access to the much prized, historic and sacred landmarks left in our beautiful state.
Because of the dominance with which the gas companies have initiated with vengeance to Pine Creek Valley in Lycoming County is the most destructive and abusive by far of all the areas in Lycoming County. It is unreal how these gas companies dominate Pine Creek Valley all because their demands are treated as accepted requests by local authorities who more often than not give in to those demands.
Not only has tourism suffered, but the hundreds of families who make this narrow valley their home carry the blunt of danger, pollution and noise from truck and equipment traffic, as they gain access to Route 973, Dam Run Road, Ramsey area, Little Pine Creek, Little Pine Dam, Lower Pine Bottom, Upper Pine Bottom, Coudersport Pike, Browns Run, Truman Run and the Okome area as well as Beulah Land Road. The scars and paths of destruction, as well as the chronic negativity being created within the confines of this valley should not be happening. In miners slang, there is no grubstake available to Valley residents to be paid by the gas companies, when it comes to sharing future profits.
