I am a native of Williamsport who moved from there to where I live now for many reasons. I'm expressing some concern to a few letters I've been reading about these free lunches at the city pools. Since when?
When I was a kid we swam at the pools and the creek, we never got a free lunch once at a city pool. But I do remember my parents giving me money when I went to Memorial Pool and stopping at Park Pizza and getting two slices of pizza and a 16 oz. RC cola for two bucks it filled the void till supper time. The city can't afford to be giving away free lunches. It's time parents start taking responsibility for their children, and stop riding the freebie wagon of government handouts.
Williamsport was always a blue-collar town and will always be; spend the free lunch money on attracting good wage paying and sustaining jobs for the area and the city won't have to consider any free lunches. I'm glad to see Williamsport has a mayor standing up to liberals, and telling people they need to stand on their own to feet and take care of themselves instead of living on the gravy train of government. Keep up the good work Mayor Campana.
