Lycoming County Commissioners are expected to hire a firm for waterline construction work at the county landfill at their Thursday meeting.

The low bid for the work revealed at Tuesday's work session was $1,399,100 from Sikora Brothers Paving, of Shickshinny.

Eight firms submitted bids.

The waterline, to link the Montgomery water system with the landfill, is needed to provide backup fire protection, according to Lycoming County Planning Commission Director Kurt Hausammann.

It also will serve the Timber Run Industrial Park being constructed across Route 15 from the landfill.

The bids are to be reviewed prior to Thursday's meeting.

In other matters, commissioners will consider a professional service agreement with Girio Agency for real estate consulting services.

Commissioners are being asked to approve a professional service agreement with Cornell Abraxas Group for various juvenile services.

Among those services are leadership development, substance abuse issues and intervention of youths with various other problems.
