"Do unto others as we would have them do unto us."
A pothead misreads this and thinks it means giving a joint to a friend. An alcoholic thinks it means getting drunk with a friend.
A president who selectively picks verses from the Bible he agrees with and rejects the rest thinks it means changing the definition of marriage to cater to the homosexual community.
The Bible is either the Word of God and standard of truth when it comes to morality, or it should be banned as a hate crimes book because of its condemnation of homosexuality. Without the Bible we can decide our conduct by the latest opinion poll or the latest issue of Psychology Today or some all-wise government bureaucrat can tell us.
On the contrary, sin is still sin no matter who says it is legal. The homosexual couples who have been married in several states are still living in sin. No legislator, judge or president can take the seat of authority to declare right and wrong. Only God has that authority.
Hitler declared that Jews were less than fully human. They were still fully human when the courts of Germany allowed them to be killed in gas chambers. Babies are still human when the abortionist doctor refuses to let his patient see the baby in her womb and then goes in and destroys it.
