WELLSBORO - Sherri L. Prough, 42, of 283 Kelsey St., the former athletic director at Wellsboro Area High School, has been charged in connection with alleged sexual conduct with a female student.
According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard's office, borough police charged her with corruption of minors. They said the alleged relationship began on May 13, 2007, when she allegedly had sexual relations at the high school with a then 17-year-old student. The relationship continued until the student was 18, police said, and the two allegedly had sexual contact in various locations throughout the school many times.
Prough resigned her position at the school late last year, after the victim reported the alleged affair to the school superintendent, who in turn reported it to police. Prough was issued a summons to appear at a June 12 preliminary hearing.
