WELLSBORO - Troy R. Damas, 37, of Bristol, N.H., was charged by Wildlife Conservation Officer Rodney Mee, of the state Game Commission, for killing three deer out of season last fall.
According to documents filed with District Judge Rob Repard, the deer were killed in Elk and Gaines townships on Oct. 1-2. Damas was charged with unlawful killing of big game and littering for leaving a bag of deer parts on land or waters open to hunting or furtaking while road hunting.
The Game Commission responded to a complaint by another hunter setting up a tree stand for archery season who allegedly saw one of the dead deer with an arrow wound. Mee later found parts of three dead dear in a cabin at 14 Antlers Lane after going there and being invited inside when he knocked. There were at least five people in the cabin, all from New Hampshire, holding knives and standing around a table containing deer parts, according to Mee.
Damas was issued a summons to appear at a June 12 preliminary hearing.
