The Williamsport Regional YMCA is aiming for the end of the year to begin construction of a new multi-million dollar facility on Park Avenue, the city Redevelopment Authority was told Wednesday.
"They have to be under construction this year to obtain tax credits," said John Grado, city engineer and city director of the department of community and economic development.
A 14- to 16-month building period is proposed.
Dave Fagerstrom, Y executive director, declined to speculate on any specific date for ground breaking.
The city planning commission is expected to review the project but not until a land development plan is drafted, Grado said.
