Confused parent

May 26, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

So here we are a year past the ordeal where Jersey Shore students were fighting for their right to graduate and now word of our superintendent being arrested for DUI. The article in the paper said that Mr. Emery was on his own personal time, doing his own personal thing in his own personal vehicle. I believe the kids that went through that huge ordeal last year were on their own free time as well. Whatever happened to "what is good for the goose is good for the gander"? Those kids last year had to have their names smeared through the news, spent all that money on lawyers and went through some pretty emotional times because of the district butting into their "personal lives".

Why is it different for the children and not for Mr. Emery? He is the superintendent and should be setting an example at all times for the children within our district, especially after all the commotion Mr. Emery himself caused last year. He is no better than those children; in fact, he could have killed innocent people so the district should be butting into his "personal life" and doing something about this. This just shows that if the school districts can't control what their own staff does on their own "personal time" why do they think they have the right to control what our children do on their own time?
