FBI Crime Reports are showing solid reductions in major crime for 2009 and 2010, the most recent years available, according to Lycoming County District Attorney Eric R. Linhardt.
And Lycoming County Judge Dudley N. Anderson also acknowledged a multi-year decrease in criminal filings in the judicial system.
More specifically, he said he is seeing fewer crimes with ties to the Philadelphia region.
There was a time when that was the tie to almost all major crime in the county.
It's not as though these officials are not qualified to make these observations. In their positions, they see the entire crime portfolio of Lycoming County.
They would be the first to tell you there are major struggles everyday involved in the crime and punishment world of our county.
But the positive parts of what they see are worth feeling somewhat good about.
