Mr. and Mrs. Donald Berninger, Muncy, will observe their 60th wedding anniversary June 7, 2012.
They were married by the Rev. Varre Cummings at First United Presbyterian Church, Bloomsburg. They are members of Faith United Methodist Church, Montoursville.
Mrs. Berninger, the former Jeanne Ruckle, is a native of Bloomsburg. She is the daughter of the late May and James Ruckle. She graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1948 and from the former Bloomsburg Sate Teacher's College, now Bloomsburg University, in 1952. She retired in 1989 from Muncy Elementary School and also taught in Catawissa and Argentia, Newfoundland. She has been the director of the West Branch Chorale for 35 years.

Mr. Berninger, a native of Buckhorn, is the son of the late Nellie and Wilbur Berninger. He graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1948, from Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, in 1952 and from Penn State University, State College, in 1957. He served as a musician in the Navy band from 1952 to 1956. He retired in 1986 as school principal of Muncy Elementary School. Previously he was band director at Muncy High School. He directed the Williamsport Consistory Teteque Band for 26 years, where he remains a playing member.
They are the parents of two sons, Daniel, Muncy and Douglas, Berwick, and one daughter, Diane Brink, Muncy.
There are three grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, a family celebration is planned.
