A local mother faces charges after allegedly having her 14-year-old daughter help her steal various items from Macy's Department Store in the Lycoming Mall.

Summer McIlroy, of Sunbury, faces charges of retail theft and corruption of minors, after allegedly storing stolen items in her daughter's handbag.

The pair entered the store at about 2 p.m. on May 27. According to reports, McIlroy and her daughter entered a fitting room within Macy's, where McIlroy hid various items inside her and her daughter's handbags. Then, McIlroy allegedly told her daughter to follow her out of the store.

Charges have been filed against McIlroy by state police in the office of District Judge Jon E. Kemp.
