I have just finished reading the letter entitled "Hypocritical" which appeared in the Sunday edition. Let me state that I have voted for as many Democrats as I have Republicans, and have never voted a straight ticket, so don't include me in with your "right wingers." I look at issues, not ideology, Can we put the high school shenanigans of both candidates behind us and get some serious answers from both candidates regarding how to mend the economy?
Between class warfare, eating dog meat, the alleged War on Women, validity of birth certificates and Lord knows what will be fabricated or dug up next on both sides, don't we have enough red herrings?
Romney transported his dog on the roof rack. No doubt the dog crate was well secured, and as long as the pooch wasn't facing into a 60 mph head wind there should be no problem. Not much different than a dog in a crate in the cargo hold of an airliner. As for Obama eating a dog in Indonesia, it's been out there (in his own words along with "heavy" alcohol use and "enthusiastic" drug use) since Dreams From My Father was first published in 1995. No big deal. It was never brought up four years ago, and would never have been mentioned now had not people like Axelrod attempted to make political hay from the Romney dog issue. Obviously, no other arrows in his quiver are working.
As for Romney, the bully, what could be more bullying than forcing people to purchase something that they don't want, and hiring more IRS agents to enforce compliance?
And as for the clever Lincoln analogy, when President Lincoln made the crack about finding out what Grant drinks and sending a case of it to all of his generals it was because Grant was actually succeeding in his efforts to defeat the enemy.
The current enemy, the bad economy, is succeeding at the moment, so I doubt that Lincoln would approve.
We're standing on the deck of the Titanic, folks. Do we man the lifeboats or re-arrange the deck chairs?
