Have you ever received a phone call from a telemarketer trying to sell you something? Once you realize what they are doing, what do you do? Instantly hang up? Let the telemarketer start their script and then hang up abruptly or do you let them continue with the entire script, say you're not interested and then hang up? I was a person that instantly hung up on them until I became one.
A person sees things differently when they are suddenly on the other end of that phone call. Now people are instantly hanging up on me.
People need to understand just like they get up and go to work, a telemarketer does the same. Just like them, telemarketers have bills to pay too but that can't be done is they don't make any sales. Just like any other employee, telemarketers have bills to pay to.
As a telemarketer, I have found people to be rude or they don't listen to what is being said to them. For instance, if someone were to ask you "who would I need to speak to", would you give them a name or would you say "one moment" or "hold on"?
That isn't what the telemarketer asked. They asked to speak to a person. They asked for a person's name and I don't know of anyone that was named "one moment" or "hold on." There are some employers that will say they are not permitted to give out a name but do offer you that person's voicemail.
Next time you receive a phone call from a telemarketer remember this, just like you they have to make a living as well. Give the telemarketer a chance to make money to take care of their family.
Today's economy doesn't allow anyone to interview for several jobs, receive an offer of employment and then have to choose the job they feel most fits them.
On the contrary, in today's economy, if you are offered a job you have to take it whether it is in your comfort zone or not!
