When contemplating the reasons for our dismal level of employment, we mustn't overlook the fact that in many cases it's more cost-effective for companies to hire lobbyists to influence ever expanding government laws and regulations and lawyers and accountants to find ways to skirt those laws and regulations than it is to hire productive workers.
Constantly changing laws and regulations also put smaller businesses at a disadvantage because they can't afford to keep lobbyists, lawyers and accountants on their staffs.
