Marketing coordinator

for Little League sports

Scott Spillman has been named Little League's sponsorship and marketing coordinator, it was announced by Stephen D. Keener, President and Chief Executive Officer of Little League Baseball and Softball. Spillman will be a member of the marketing department at Little League International in South Williamsport.

"Scott is a young, energetic and knowledgeable professional who is joining our marketing department," Keener said. "He will be a valuable member of our staff as we continue to develop new strategic relationships and strengthen the relationships with existing Little League partners."

Spillman, a Fishers, Ind., native graduated in May from Indiana University, earning his undergraduate degree in sports marketing and management.

During his final months at Indiana, Spillman worked for the public relations department of the Indianapolis Colts, putting together a daily report of the news generated by the organization and its players. He also performed various duties for the Colts during the 2012 NFL Draft, including working with their draft choices, including the top overall pick, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.

The graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School in his hometown, Spillman worked last summer for The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he completed his internship. In his position as the tournament operations intern, he assisted with the day-to-day operations of 10 week-long youth tournaments while also providing assistance in the retail store.

In addition, Spillman, who attended Lock Haven University for one year, spent one summer working for the marketing department of the Omaha Royals, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.

"I'm really excited about working for a baseball institution like Little League with all of the great volunteers and employees that make it so special," Spillman said.

In his new position, Spillman will assist in managing national sponsor and other strategic relationships, including organizing and implementing marketing, communications and promotional initiatives. He also will work with sponsor activations during the Little League International Tournament.

Little League Baseball and Softball is the world's largest organized youth sports program, with more than 2.4 million players and 1 million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and scores of other countries.

honored with award

The Hampton Inn, 140 Via Bella, recently announced the special recognition of one of its own team members. Richard Demarte was recently awarded with the Spirit of Hampton Award, which is an individual award won by the nomination of his fellow team member for excellent service, according to a news release.

The Spirit Award is the highest form of team member recognition that the Hilton brand has to offer. It was created to recognize those top performers within each brand who impact guests and spread the light and warmth of hospitality. Hilton receives thousands of nominations yet only 240 winners are chosen annually across the country. A celebration with his team was held with a surprise congratulatory phone call from brand executives notifying him that he was a winner. Demarte also received a $350.00 check, an iPod and iPod gift card, a plaque to be displayed in the hotel, and he will have ongoing communication and recognition throughout tenure with Hilton Worldwide.

"We are incredibly excited for one of our own team members to be so highly recognized," said Madge Guiser, general manager of the Hampton Inn. "Richard Demarte is an invaluable member of our team and this award is further proof of the friendly service and top notch work he provides for our guests and hotel each and every day."

Paul Bleichner has joined Larson Design Group as Director of Marketing at their Williamsport headquarters. In this role, Bleichner will manage all LDG marketing, oversee proposals, support new business and lead development, and mentor marketing staff.

Bleichner has more than 35 years of experience in marketing, the last 12 spent in the A/E/C industry, predominantly in the Southeastern United States. He founded Bleichner, Inc. in 1987 and acted as a consultant for clients including Coca-Cola, Arthur Andersen, Holiday Inn, and Chiat Day Mojo. In 2002, he joined the national architecture and design firm Cooper Carry as Director of Marketing, where he stayed for six years. He also served as Director of Marketing for Travis Pruitt & Associates, based in Atlanta.

Bleichner has received numerous creative and marketing awards including Gold Addy Awards and Best of Show from the American Marketing Association. A large group endeavor, HERE (the magazine of Cooper Carry) received Best of Show from The One Show in New York.

"I have inherited a superb staff of high performers," Bleichner said. "My focus is in giving clear direction and structure to the group and in advancing the firm's efforts to elevate client service and explore new markets."

A native of Albany, N.Y., Bleichner has three sons and currently resides in Williamsport. He graduated from Georgia Tech, where he earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture. He enjoys fly fishing, playing music, and reading.

selected for award

Laurie Alberts Salita, partner, Blank Rome LLP, has been selected by the Philadelphia Business Journal as a 40 Under 40 award recipient. The awards program, now in its 22nd year, recognizes young professionals in the Delaware Valley for outstanding success and contributions to their community. Salita and fellow recipients were selected from more than 250 nominations, and will be recognized on May 22 at the 40 Under 40 Awards Banquet at the Crystal Tea Room.

At Blank Rome, Salita, a native of Williamsport, concentrates her practice in tort litigation, with particular emphasis on matters arising from aviation, products liability, catastrophic loss, and transportation accidents. Additionally, she has litigation experience in matters pertaining to liquor liability, premises liability, negligence and contract disputes. She also takes great interest in providing regular, general legal advice to business owners and operators. She is active in numerous professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, Tort, Trial & Insurance Practice Section, Aviation and Space Law Committee, Products Liability Committee and the International Aviation Women's Association. In addition, Salita provides pro bono legal assistance to clients in need, has authored and published numerous articles and presentations and recently launched a women's networking group, "TTA Connect."

New agent for

real estate firm

Weichert Realtors Premier, Williamsport, has announced that real estate agent Dana L. Waldman has joined the office's sales team. She is a member of the West Branch Valley Association of Realtors. A lifelong resident of the area and a real estate agent for seven years, Waldman lives in Loyalsock and will serve clients in Lycoming County and surrounding areas. Her real estate accolades include the Manager's Award and Top Sales Agent.

Waldman has served the community as a past board member of the Lycoming County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Williamsport. She attended Delaware Technical Community College, and her former career experience is in bookkeeping and advertising sales.
