Whenever there is an ongoing situation such as the city's arsons, we are reminded about the importance of all public safety personnel.
That includes emergency medical services providers, many of whom were honored recently at an Appreciation Banquet.
Where would we be without these people from Lycoming, Tioga and Sullivan counties during emergencies such as last September's flooding?
The word "hero" is often overused these days, but not in this case.
These people are heroes and they showed it last September. While tragedies and crisis are never sought, they give us hope that when the next one inevitably hits, we at least are as ready as we can be to handle it.
