Free radon test kits available for residents
PENNSDALE -The American Lung Association in Pennsylvania will give free radon test kits and educational materials to residents of Lycoming, Clinton, Bradford, Northumberland, Potter, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Tioga counties from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 21 at the Lycoming Mall. Supplies are limited.
Radon can cause lung cancer. The lung health agency identified three regions of the state with generally lower testing rates and generally higher likelihood of high radon levels. It is attempting to promote radon testing among residents in the first region, mainly in the northeastern quadrant of the state.
For those unable to attend the mall event, an online program is available at www.lunginfo.org/freeradonkit, at which Pennsylvania residents can place a request for a home radon test kit. Only one test kit per household will be provided.
