V. June Reed, 88, of Hughesville, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at ManorCare South, Williamsport. She was born June 2, 1924, in Penn Township, Lycoming County, a daughter of the late William Grover and Minnie Mae (Derrick) Rupert. On Jan. 31, 1942, she married the late Lawrence M. Reed, who died Dec. 30, 1973.
June was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Hughesville and was a member of Bethany Women. She had worked at Relda Apparel and GTE Sylvania, enjoyed quilting and was known in the area for her seamstress skills. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, Alexa.
June is survived by a daughter, Susan L. (Roy) Weaver, Hughesville; two grandchildren, Pamela S. (Thomas) Peters, Harleysville and Mark W. Weaver, Morgantown, W.Va.; a great-granddaughter, Alexa Peters, Harleysville; a brother, Gordon T. Rupert, of Oklahoma; and a sister, Harriet R. Milheim, Muncy.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Leon W., Carl L., Owen W. and Nile L. Rupert and a sister, Velma M. Bergerstock.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, by Rev. Bethany Wood. The interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. till the time of service.
