Beyond expectations

June 16, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

A friend and I took a long drive. It was a beautiful day and our plan was to visit Rider Park in Warrensville. We'd heard so much about it and neither one of us, having lived here all our lives, had ever been there. It was way beyond my expectations. Wow! I was so excited to have seen a pair of bluebirds flying in the meadow. These were the first bluebirds I've seen and I'm 51! After leaving Rider Park, we decided to continue our day and take a drive to Rose Valley Lake and surrounding area to see the beauty of those areas. It was very sad. Don't get me wrong, it's still a beautiful area, but it seems to be being taken away a little at a time. We should have gone to the Rose Valley Lake, Cascade, Gamble Township area before we went to Rider Park. Rider Park lets you know that there is still hope for this area.

To those who care for Rider Park, the "Friends of Rider Park," Mr. Rider especially, thank you for caring, thank you for sharing and thanks for making me believe that there is still hope for this area. To all out there, like me, who love the beauty and gift of nature, let's all stick together and help to maintain the areas we still have because they are still there - for now.
