City parks

June 19, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

We are now going into the summer months and many of our citizens will be out more and spend time in the city parks. All city parks have rules that must be taken serious and people are paying no attention to those rules.

Living near Brandon Park, I spend time there, especially walking my dogs. The rules in the park is not to leave dogs run with out a leash because there are all size dogs there and kids. That way nobody gets hurt if the dogs don't get along.

I always carry dogie bags with me and clean up after my dogs and they have many barrels in the park to throw droppings in.

Some droppings don't get picked up and that makes for a very messy park. There are many children playing in the park also and stepping in dog dirt is awful and unnecessary.

I have noticed that people are bringing their garbage and putting it in or by the trash cans. That is not what those cans are for.

With the weather nice, some people come to the park for lunch or just to sit and read a book. Recently there were two wedding parties in the park taking pictures and the girls in beautiful gowns and before that a wedding in the park.

We need to keep the park clean. The men that take care of the parks work very hard. There are volunteers who spend time weeding and cutting flowers when they are finished.

If everybody obeyed the park laws while they are in the park, it would make the park workers job so much easier and in the long run it would keep the park beautiful for young and old to enjoy.
