Regarding the letter from a Linden reader about the downtown Farmers Market and how they kept him from selling at the market, this has been going on for years. I give the folks a great deal of credit, but the market has a handful or members stating the rules that best suit them.
Why would they want more vendors to come in and sell produce or plants when that takes away from their business and a new vendor might undercut the prices?
People in Williamsport have this love afair with the market, but it's nowhere near as nice as the huge one in Lewisburg every Wednesday. And folks don't realize the market is keeping others out, thus creating a smaller market with less variety and higher prices. I would like to know how a public area that is owned by the city can let a few people dictate who can and can't set up? A public space and city owned should let anyone have a spot.
