WELLSBORO - Giving back is an important part of a thriving community and, in April, Laurel Health System gave back to its many tireless volunteers at an annual volunteer luncheon at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Sixty-two volunteers enjoyed the nostalgia-themed event that featured trivia from favorite golden era movies, music and commercials; games such as jacks and dominos; and favorite classic candies including root beer barrels, Tootsie Rolls and clove or teaberry gum.
The event recognizes Laurel Health System's 135 volunteers for their outstanding commitment and willingness to help services including The Green Home, Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital and Laurel Home Health/Hospice.
"Thank you for the many hours of service that you provide our organization, thank you for being role models for us and our community, and thank you for the smiling faces and kind words that are there for our patients, residents and visitors," said Jan Fisher, hospital president and CEO, told the volunteers.
