Harold Yerk

Harold Yerk, 91, of 1395 Princeton Ave., died Monday, June 18, 2012, surrounded by his family.

Harold's wife of 68 years, the former Beulah E. Reeder, died May 15, 2011.

Harold attended the Trinity United Methodist Church on Lycoming Creek Road and was a member of their Men's choir and Men's group. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving for three years in the South Pacific.

Harold retired from the former Bethlehem Steel Co. in 1982. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, landscaping, Penn State football, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

Born Sept. 22, 1920, in East Greenville, he was the son of Horace and Florence Nace Yerk.

Surviving are daughters, Linda Schramm and Jan (Ron) Sauers, both of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Matt Sauers, Jason (Sarah) Sauers and Lauren Sauers, and a great-grandson, Logan Sauers.

In addition to his wife, Harold was predeceased by his brothers, Earl, Ernest, Lawrence and Linwood.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Knight-Confer's, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. John Dromazos officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Buchanan Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Susquehanna Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
