2 men sentenced on child pornography charges

June 20, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

A South Williamsport man charged with more than 90 counts of possesion of child pornography was sentenced to four to eight years in state prison in Lycoming County Court by Judge Marc F. Lovecchio Tuesday.

Matthew Joseph Pelleschi, 26, pleaded guilty to the counts Feb. 27. Pelleschi admitted to police that he downloaded and viewed the material on a netbook computer and MP3 player.

He was ordered to register as a lifetime Megan's Law offender, but was not deemed to be a sexually violent predator.

Pelleschi's attorney, Ronald C. Travis, contested the lifetime status of the Megan's Law registry, arguing that all the charges should count only as one charge because they stem from the same violation.

Another man, Matthew William Collins, 41, of Linden, was sentenced to three years probation and Megan's Law registration by Lovecchio on charges of possession of child pornography.

Collins pleaded guilty Feb. 27 to videotaping a minor girl in the act of changing clothes and showering in his bathroom. The man admitted to investigators that the incidents happened more than nine years ago.

Collins said an alcohol and pornography addition led to taping and watching the girl live on a hidden mini-cam.

The victim asked that prosecutors not send the man to prison.

Because of the delay in reporting the crime and the destruction of evidence, the District Attorney's office agreed to the victim's wishes and plea agreement.
