Karen Renee Toner, 41, of 1733 Becht Road, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Feb. 5, 1971, in Fort Pierce, Fla., she was the daughter of William R. and Gloria (Jeanne) Hauser Toner.
Karen graduated in 1992 from the Williamsport Area High School and soon after attended the workshop at Hope Enterprises, where she worked for 15 years.

Karen enjoyed competing in the Special Olympics at the local, regional and state levels receiving many bronze, silver and gold medals. One of her most exciting moments was having the opportunity to meet Joe Paterno. She also enjoyed being a volunteer at the American Cancer Society, making many new friends.
Karen was an avid fan of Penn State football. She loved shopping, dancing, bible study classes, camping and spending time with her family and many friends. She had a special place in her heart for her cousin Amanda who was always there giving her love and support.
Surviving are her mother, Jeanne; brother, William H. of Bellefonte; sisters, Darlene K. Toner of Bellefonte, Sharon Tressler of Lewistown, Elizabeth Wright of Ashland, Va., and Jessica Carey in Washington State.
Karen was predeceased by her father, William, paternal grandparents, William H. Toner and Mary (Rupert) Toner and maternal grandparents, Max A. Hauser Sr. and Dorothy (Whiteman) Hauser.
Karen's kindness and fun loving spirit will forever be missed by all who knew her. The world has lost a beautiful soul.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Knight-Confer's, 1914 Memorial Ave., with Chaplain Rebecca A. Logan officiating. There will be a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Buchanan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Cancer Center at Divine Providence Hospital, 1100 Grampian Blvd., the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., both Williamsport, PA 17701 or the Lycoming County Special Olympics, P.O. Box 265, Montoursville, PA 17754.
