President Obama's recent gaff about Polish death camps, which were really Nazi extermination camps located in occupied Poland, reminded me of a late night documentary on the Holocaust. Prior to the start, the following warning appeared on the screen, "This program contains scenes that may be disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised." The warning "may be disturbing" struck me as being the understatement of the century, after witnessing men, women, some with infants in their arms, and little children being marched to their deaths. The commentator stated that the Nazi leaders in Germany refrained from calling them "Death Camps" and instead referred to them as "The Final Solution."
As part of this documentary, several people who lived in Europe during this time were interviewed. All asked the same question, "Why didn't somebody stop them?" This act of barbarism took place 70 years ago.
I can't help but wonder if 70 years from now, people will be watching a documentary titled "Abortion Clinics in America" and say to themselves "Why didn't somebody stop them?" And perhaps the commentator will mention that the Liberal leaders in America refrained from calling them "Abortion Clinics" and instead referred to them as "Pro Choice."
