McDonald’s on the Golden Strip, 1730 E. Third St., held its grand re-opening Wednesday morning with a new look and more energy efficient. According to owner Doug Doherty, the replacement of the old restaurant took 93 days from demolition to grand opening. The new facility uses all LED lighting, which is much more efficient, with the overall restaurant being more “green.” Also included are two drive-thru windows that are open 24 hours a day and the addition of bar height tables as well as regular tables. The original McDonald’s in Loyalsock Township was built in 1966 for owner/operater Tom McConnell by contractor John Albarano.
