Strawberry festival

JERSEY SHORE - Phelps Chapel, Pine Creek exit off Route 220, will hold a strawberry festival starting at 11 a.m. featuring strawberry shortcake, homemade ice cream, hot dogs and hamburg barbecue.

Lamar Camp summer concerts set

LAMAR - The Lamar Lighthouse Camp 2012 summer concert series continues at 7 p.m. Sundays from June 24-Sept. 9. The schedule incudes The Masters and Heartsong Singers for Christ, June 24; The Jacob Brothers, July 1; Clowns for Christ, July 8; Next 2 Nothing, July 15; The Sky Family, July 22; Chiz Rider, July 29; Keystone State Quartet, Aug. 12; The Stevens Family, Aug. 19; New Season Gospel Trio, Aug. 26; Leroy White, Sept. 2; and The Baptones, Sept. 9. Dinner and show

The story of Sojourner Truth, as told by international storyteller Denise Valentine, will be performed at Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine St. A dinner, presented by Hillside Catering and featuring chicken en croute, red-skin potatoes with lemon chive butter, green beans, tossed salad with a choice of dressing, rolls and butter, beverage and dessert, will begin at 6 p.m. with the show at 7:30 p.m. Cost for the dinner and show is $20 and for the show only is $7. Barbecue buffet

PENNSDALE - Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road, will hold an all you can eat barbecue buffet catered by Springman's Country Store of Pennsdale, 4-7 p.m. The menu includes pulled beef and chicken barbecue, gourmet potatoes, macaroni salad, creamy coleslaw, beverages and homemade desserts. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for those under 5.

Free fellowship meal

WATSONTOWN - St. John's Lutheran Church, 6590 Musser Lane, will hold a free fellowship meal from 4:30-6:30 p.m. featuring hamburg or ham barbecue, potato salad, tossed salad, dessert and beverage.

Free community dinner

St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church, 1427 Memorial Ave., will hold a free community dinner at 5:30 p.m.

Gospel Strings in concert

Gospel Strings, a blue grass group out of the Mifflinburg area will perform in concert at 7:30 pm on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Lairdsville Faith Church, 6786 Route 118. Call Pastor Max L. Walters Jr. for more information at 584-2765.

Golfers, sponsors needed

The United Churches of Lycoming County has scheduled its second annual golf tournament for Sept. 27 at White Deer Golf Course.

According to chairman Ken Weiss, last year's event raised more than $8,100.

This year, the organization is seeking at least 30 foursomes (there were 27 a year ago), along with additional sponsors.

Fall Bible, leadership classes set

Church Leadership Institute will hold fall term classes in biblical interpretation and pastoral leadership. CLI is the lay pastor training ministry of the American Baptist Churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware; classes are open to those of other traditions and those seeking to develop in all areas of church leadership.
