Susan Joy Selleck, nee Boyles, died while snorkeling in the Bahamas on June 17, 2012. Born June 14, 1951, she is survived by her six children, Roberta Selleck, Natalie Selleck, Gerard Selleck, Rebecca Mosely, Joshua Selleck and Mary O'Donnell. Surviving are two sisters, Ann Strosser and Joan Williams; five brothers, Robert Boyles, David Boyles, Ronald Boyles, Dennis Boyles and Timothy Boyles. Sue had five grandchildren she doted on: Katie, Sarah and Anna O'Donnell and Jordyn and Jacob Pierce-Selleck. Also surviving is her former husband, R. Laurence Selleck. She was preceded by both her parents, Clair Maxwell Boyles and Dorothy Hamm Boyles.
Sue attended school in Williamsport and graduated in 1969. She was a member of the 1973 graduating class of Lock Haven State College. For a short while, she was a library aide at Washington Elementary School in Williamsport. For the past 32 years, Sue has resided in Jersey Shore, Pa., and has taught many of its residents as a kindergarten and first grade teacher. She was an active member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and had served as a lector, a CCD instructor, and a Director of CCD. While her children were in school, she was president of the Band Boosters and traveled all over the East Coast. She traveled to Europe with her daughter's college choir and visited Vienna, Budapest, Austria and Hungary. She was also active in JSAEA as a Grievance Committee Chair, Chief Negotiator and former Vice-President.
Sue will be remembered for her energy, friendly nature and sense of adventure. Well known in the community, Sue rarely went anywhere without meeting someone she had to stop and talk to. Truthfully though, she was somewhat hard to pin down. If she wasn't in a meeting somewhere, she was out shopping, getting her hair done, or spending time with her best friend, Donna Rdesinski. She was always going somewhere, whether it was to visit her children and grandchildren, go brave the aisles on Black Friday or travel to Ireland. She traveled to Mexico to visit with her son's in-laws and made friends though she couldn't speak a bit of Spanish. Sue loved to explore and experience new people, places and things. She seemed to make it her mission to get around as much as possible in between teaching, visiting and caring for her former stepmother-in-law, representing her co-workers in her union, participating in church activities and tending her garden. She was a strong woman whose life and actions speak for themselves.
