Stop means stop!

June 27, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

For the second time in less than a year my 5-year-old son has survived a road traffic accident in the city involving another driver ignoring a stop sign. The most recent accident totalled our vehicle. Luckily no one was hurt on this occasion and we would like to thank all those who assisted at the scene.

Is is too much to ask for drivers in the city to pay attention to stop signs? Everyone who lives here knows full well that the local neighborhoods have many stop signs, yet people continue to drive while texting, talking on cell phones and day dreaming.

Running stop signs is a chronic and pervasive problem in our city and we need to raise awareness before someone gets seriously injured or killed. Stop means STOP!
