There are 168 hours in one week. Christians take at least one of these hours on Sunday to fulfill their obligation to "Keep Holy the Sabbath". Catholics do this by attending mass either Sunday or the vigil mass on Saturday night. Mass is roughly one hour. One hour to put yourself in God's presence and experience a little peace from the stress-filled week gone by. The church teaches Jesus is present body, blood, soul and divinity. One would think people in a church would act accordingly. Some do, many don't. This letter is dedicated to those that don't.
If you need to talk before mass starts, do it outside the church. When mass starts, zip it! It's rude to talk when someone else is speaking. If you talk loudly at the movie theatre and keep doing so, you'll be asked to leave. Shouldn't God's house be treated with at least the same respect as a movie house? Whether it's the readings or the priest speaking during the homily or Eucharistic prayers, it is God speaking to you and me. I don't want to hear about your ex, your hemmorhoids, or the big day you have planned at the beach. And why is it necessary to wear beach attire to church? A little modesty from the ladies would be welcome. Gentlemen, does your Sunday best include flip-flops, shorts, and a t-shirt? How about dressing with a little class. As for me and mine, we'll try to do better for at least one hour. God is the perfect gentleman, let's be courteous to him and respectful of others in his house.
