Couple observes 40th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Specht, Montoursville, observe their 40th wedding anniversary today, June 24, 2012.

They were married by the Rev. Robert J. Ensign at Christ Lutheran Church, Monroe, Mich. They are members of Montoursville Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Specht, the former Cathy Joan Koch, is a native of Monroe. She is the daughter of the late Inis and Albert Koch. She graduated from Monroe High School, Monroe, in 1966; Adrian College, Adrian Mich., in 1970; and University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Conn., in 1971. She is employed by Pennsylvania College of Technology in the fitness and lifetime sports department as an instructor.

Mr. Specht, a native of Sunbury, is the son of the late Helen and Marlin Specht. He graduated from Shikellamy High School, Sunbury, in 1966; Lock Haven University in 1970; and University of Bridgeport in 1971. He retired in 2010, after 39 years of service, from Pennsylvania College of Technology in the fitness and lifetime sports department as a professor.

They are the parents of two daughters, Carin J. Carl, Harrisburg, and Trisha L. Hoefel, St. Louis, Mo.

There are three grandchildren.

In honor of their anniversary, a family vacation is being planned.
