John E. Koch Sr., 79, of 452 Pine Creek Ave., Jersey Shore, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, in the Manor Care Health Center in Jersey Shore.
Born June 10, 1933, in Jersey Shore, he was the son of Isaac Koch and the former Frances Scalzo.
John is survived by his wife, the former Rose Marie Daugherty. They were united in marriage Oct. 16, 1953. John was retired from the Jersey Shore Steel Co. after 30 years of service. He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball.
Also surviving is a son, John "Joe" (Sandy) Koch Jr. and a grandson, Alex James, all of Jersey Shore; two sisters, Rosie (Neil) Hurlbutt of Jersey Shore and Bonnie (Donald) Beardsley of Avis; one brother Charles "Skip" Koch of Williamsport.
John was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn, Oliver, Richard, and Gene and also a sister, Leona.
Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made in John's name to the Manor Care Health Center, 1008 Thompson St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740. Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, is in charge of arrangements.
