City man jailed on $200,000 bail in brutal beating, robbery
A 23-year-old city man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a robbery at a guest room at the Econo Lodge, 2019 E. Third St., that state police said was drug-related.
Michael Tyrone Wills, of 921 Clark St., has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, aggravated and simple assault, burglary, felony trespassing, theft and receiving stolen property.
The charges stem from a robbery that resulted in guest Noor Ford being treated at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center for injuries he suffered in a brutal beating inside his room about 11:15 a.m. on June 19, police said. Other suspects still are being sought.
Ford was struck in the head and face with a handgun and was punched and kicked several times, police said.
The bandits fled with $500 as well as an X-Box, iPhone and a duffel bag with 100 CDs in it, police said.
Following his arraignment late Monday before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman, Wills was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Wirerope Works ex-employee charged with theft from work
A former employee of Wirerope Works Inc., 100 Maynard St., has been charged with allegedly stealing $4,700 worth of scrap metal from the business on six occasions between mid-April and Nov. 7, according to city police.
Timothy J. English, 41, of 656 Route 15, South Williamsport, faces six counts of theft for his alleged actions, police. Following his arraignment last week before District Judge James G. Carn, he was released on $12,500 bail.
Jersey Shore man faces fraud charge for bank card misuse
JERSEY SHORE - Krystopher P. Fuller, 19, of 1418 Scott St., Williamsport, has been charged with access device fraud for allegedly using another man's missing bank card to withdraw $190 from the victim's account, according to the Tiadaghton Valley Regional police.
Fuller allegedly made the illegal withdrawal using Cody McCloskey's card at an ATM at the Weis Market, 1440 Allegheny St., on May 18. Following his arraignment before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley, he was released on $7,500 bail.
Jersey Shore man faces sexual assault charges with teen girl
JERSEY SHORE - Jeffrey A. Horn, 24, of 600 1/2 Railroad St., faces charges for allegedly molesting a teenager girl under 18 on Railroad Street on May 13, according to the Tiadaghton Valley Regional police.
Horn was arraigned earlier this month before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley on charges of aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor and corrupting the morals of a minor. He was released on $25,000 bail.
Man charged with fleeing scene of April crash in Montoursville
Motorist Lair B. Hinston III, of 734 McMinn Ave., has been charged with fleeing the scene of a crash at Broad Street and Loyalsock Avenue in Montoursville about 1:20 p.m. on April 4, borough police said.
Police allege he left the scene without leaving any information after his vehicle and another driven by Mary McKee collided. Following his arraignment before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman.
Avis man charged with
stealing from his mother
Following a preliminary hearing Monday, Gary Lee Rose, 55, of 501 Crist St., Avis, was held for court on charges of allegedly stealing $7,400 from his mother's bank account by forging several of her checks and cashing them at the Montoursville Area Federal Credit Union in Montoursville between February and July 2011.
District Judge Gary A. Whiteman ruled that Rose will face further court action on 12 counts each of borough police charges of theft, receiving stolen property and forgery. Rose remains incarcerated in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Loyalsock student faces illegal use of solvents charge
Loyalsock Township High School student Jason Riley Eggerton, 18, of 1999 Fairview Road, has been charged by state police with illegal use of solvents after he was caught sniffing a noxious substances in a janitor's room at the school, 1801 Loyalsock Drive on March 1, state police said.
Following his arraignment Monday before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman, Eggerton was released on $2,500 bail. This is the second student caught at the school inhaling solvents in a janitor's closet, police said.
Dumpster fire extinguished
City firefighters responded to the 1900 block of Apple Street to extinguish a fire in a Dumpster that was between two houses about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes. The cause remains under investigation.
Unityville man hurt in crash
HUGHESVILLE - Adam J. Ritch, 25, of Unityville, suffered moderate injuries when his car struck a concrete bridge rail on Route 118, just east of Green Valley Road, in Wolf Township about 3:10 a.m. Saturday, state police said.
Police said Ritch was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, but the facility had no record of treating him.
In Montoursville, as of Tuesday night, borough police still had not released the names of the driver and the passenger who were injured when their car went off the Loyalsock Avenue on-ramp to Interstate 180 West and crash into a tree about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
