With the Williamsport Regional Airport terminal project on the fast track to be completed by the end of next year, the county is looking to Harrisburg-based Delta Development Group to quickly find the funding needed to pay for the estimated $13 million project.
On Thursday, the county commissioners will consider and agreement that calls for the firm to be paid about $164,000 to complete the funding package for the project.
The county already has a base agreement with the firm, Mark Murawski, county transportation planner, said Tuesday during a commissioners planning session.
"They are working feverishly to put together funding - federal and state, primarily," Murawski said.
The Airport Authority recently requested proposals from architectural and engineering firms for design work associated with the project. The response to that request has been good, Murawski said.
"Since we announced the project, 25 major companies have expressed interest in it," Murawski said. "That is very encouraging."
The deadline for submitting proposals is July 13, after which "we will have the pleasant but tough task of evaluating the proposals," Murawski said.
A contract is expected to be awarded in September, he said.
In other business, the commissioners will consider a one-year agreement with local attorney Jeffrey W. Yates, who will serve as a special juvenile prosecutor for up to $35,000 a year, according to Nancy Ackley, Juvenile Probation Office administrative specialist.
A similar agreement will be considered with local attorney Donald F. Martino, who will provide legal service for juveniles on behalf of the Public Defenders Office, Ackley said.
