Margaret L. "Maggie" Karaffa, of 178 Valley Heights Drive, Williamsport, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at home.
Maggie was born in Brockway, Pa., on Sept. 29, 1927, the daughter of Anthony and Tressa Alove Chilelli.
She is a member of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church. A secretary, she was employed by Brockway Glass, St Ann's School and the former Williamsport Area Community College. She was a member of COSA Women's Guild and the Amity Club.
She is survived by her husband, Donald F. Karaffa. Maggie and Donald celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 25, 2012.
Also surviving are her children, Lynn (Verlyn) Claxton of Concord, N.C., Donald M. (Kim) Karaffa of Cogan Station, Kathie (PJ) D'Orazio and Mary (Joe) McNutt, both of Williamsport, and David G. (Debbye) Karaffa of Santa Ana, Calif. Her grandchildren also survive her, Gregory (Theresa) Claxton, Jay Claxton, Eric (Holly) Labelle, Patricia (Thomas) Blair, Thomas Karaffa, Travis Karaffa, Devon D'Orazio, Isaac Karaffa, Lucas McNutt, and Samantha (Brian) Carey; great-grandchildren, Bryce Carey and Elizabeth (Ellie) Claxton.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alfred Chilelli; and sister, Joey Brahaney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Ann Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Road, on Friday, June 29, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. Her pastor, the Rev. Paul Fontanella, will officiate. A family visitation will be held at the Crouse Funeral Home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville.
