A 24-year-old Old Lycoming Township man has been arrested on assault-related charges after he allegedly drove his pickup truck over his ex-girlfriend's right foot on June 22, city police said.
Stephen Andrew Spaar, of 2213 Green Ave., has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering for allegedly "running over the victim's foot with his vehicle," police said.
The victim, Kelsey Burns, had been riding in Spaar's truck and he became upset when he realized she fell asleep as he was talking to her, police said.
"Get out of my truck if you're not going to listen to me," Spaar told her near the intersection of Bloomingrove Road and Market Street, police said. After Burns got out of the vehicle, Spaar pulled the truck forward, running over the woman's foot, police said, adding that the man smiled when he saw the pain he inflicted.
Spaar initially pulled away but then turned around and took Burns to the hospital, police said. Following his arraignment last week before District Judge Allen P. Page III, he was released on $7,500 bail.
