'Look Good, Feel Better'
WELLSBORO - The "Look Good, Feel Better" program, a free workshop for women in cancer treatment, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital's '41 Room, in Pine Grove Cafe on the first floor.
The free workshop teaches women with cancer how to understand and care for the changes in skin and hair that may occur during treatment.

Musical event to raise funds for ACS
DUBOISTOWN - Music for Hope, a benefit for the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge in Hershey, will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the VFW, 150 Shaffer St.
Donations will be accepted at the door and the event includes auctions, raffles, 50-50 drawings, a cash bar, free food and lots of music. It is open only to adults.
According to organizers Mike and Bernie Ranck, the Hope Lodge has been a "home away from home" for many cancer patients from the Lycoming-Clinton county area. Mike Ranck was diagnosed with acute myeloma leukemia in February 2011 and spent five months at the facility, which operates mainly on donations, he said.
Pregnancy class planned
WELLSBORO - Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital will hold a free Expectant Parents class from 7 to 8:30 p.m. July 10 in the board room. It is titled "Physical & Emotional Changes During Pregnancy."
The class is the first in a cycle of classes, which addresses common questions and concerns of expectant parents, but classes are not sequential, and participants attend at any time during the cycle. Registration is not necessary. Walk-ins welcomed.

Heart and Soles celebrates 8th anniversary
SELINSGROVE - Every step counts in heart health, and 30 minutes of daily walking minimizes factors associated with heart disease.
To promote healthy hearts, Evangelical Community Hospital initiated Heart and Soles, a free walking program where members schedule and log their own regular walking sessions and can earn prizes when mileage goals are reached.
The Heart and Soles eighth anniversary will be celebrated from 8 to 10 a.m. July 10 at Boscov's North Court at the Susquehanna Valley Mall. A free continental breakfast will be provided, and new members can sign up or current members can renew their walking club membership.
Also free for members will be knee and hip assessments and screenings including body composition, blood pressure, blood sugar and lipid panel. A 12-hour fast is recommended for the lipid panel.
Heart and Soles members can take advantage of the following programs held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesdays at the mall's Community Zone:

Hospital to hold Miche bag fundraiser
WELLSBORO - Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital's Auxiliary will hold a Miche bag sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 12 and from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 13 in the hospital board room A portion of the proceeds will benefit the SSMH Auxiliary.

AARP driver safety course planned
PENNSDALE - Drivers age 50 and older may register for a two-day driver safety course to be held 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. July 12-13 at The LifeCenter in the Bon-Ton/JCPenney wing of Lycoming Mall.
A fee applies. Advance registration is required by calling the Lincoln Senior Center at 323-3096 from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Mondays and Wednesdays. Pre-payment also required in advance.
3rd annual Ta-Ta Trot planned
SUNBURY - The third annual Ta-Ta Trot, a 5K run/walk, will be held 8:30 a.m. July 14 during the Sunbury Celebration on North Fourth Street. The event will benefit the Geisinger Marie Lamey Fund and Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.
A registration fee will be charged and participants may register by calling 214-5066 or visiting www.tatatrot.com. Prizes will be awarded to the top three runners in each category and team prizes will be distributed, too. Door prizes also will be given.
The trot will be covered live by a local radio station starting at 7 a.m. Dr. Victor Vogel, director of Geisinger's Cancer Institute, and Dr. James Evans, Geisinger breast surgeon, will speak during the opening ceremonies at 8:15.
Attendance is expected to number greater than 1,000 people. Last year, 655 trotters raised $14,274.54 for breast health awareness.
Learn 'CPR Anytime'
PENNSDALE The LifeCenter in the Lycoming Mall will hold the American Heart Association's CPR Anytime program at 1:30 and 6 p.m. July 17.
Becky Lewis, a registered nurse and the chronic disease nurse consultant with the state Department of Health, will facilitate the program, which offers hands-on learning and awareness of performing CPR. Participants will receive a free training kit that includes a mini Annie doll, booklet and DVD.

Free Alzheimer's CARE workshops scheduled
LEWISBURG - From 6 to 8 p.m. July 19 and 26, and Aug. 15 and 22, free Alzheimer's CARE workshops will be held at Home Instead Senior Care, 130 Buffalo Road, in the former creamery building.
The Alzheimer's or Other Dementias CARE (Changing Aging through Research and Education) Training Program, developed by top experts in North America and Home Instead Senior Care, offers a personal approach to help families care for seniors with Alzheimer's disease at home.

SUN Home Health & Hospice will hold a butterfly releases at 2 p.m. July 22 in Brandon Park to benefit its hospice program.
Families and friends can sponsor butterflies in honor or memory of a loved one. The donation for each honor or memorial butterfly is $25.

Learn first aid, CPR
WELLSBORO - A two-day First Aid and CPR course will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. July 25 and 26 in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital's conference room.
Nellie Chambers, a qualified American Heart Association instructor, will teach the course. It will address adult, child, and infant first aid and CPR, offering group interaction, feedback and the highest quality of educational materials, as well as skills practice in first aid and CPR.
A course completion certification card will be awarded. A fee applies and registration is required.

Center holds health day
The Susquehanna Community Health and Dental Center will host a community health day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 469 and 471 Hepburn St.
During the day, there will be guest speakers, facility tours, health information, health and social service vendors, food, music, children's activities and door prizes.
