Roundup: West End wins district titles in Age 14, Age 15

Ian Dinsmore had the go-ahead hit in the sixth inning and Dominick Bragalone went 4 for 4 as West End beat Altoona, 17-11, to claim the Age 15 Babe Ruth District 8 title Monday in Clearfield.

West End, which went 4-0 in districts, hosts the state tournament at Logue Field beginning July 19. It was West End's second win over Altoona in the tournament.

Bailey Young capped a big series by going 3 for 4 Monday. Bradley Walter pitched two innings for the save.

Jake Glavin had a walk-off 2-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give West End a 10-9 win over Altoona in the Babe Ruth District 8 14-year-old championship game. Eight West End players had hits and eight players scored a run. Alec Fantaskey, DayKing Napoleon and Justin Geary all had two hits for West End.

The 14-year-olds advance to the state tournament from July 18-23 in Milroy.

In Minor Baseball, Dominic Harding hit three doubles and scored two runs to help Newberry defeat Keystone, 8-7, in the District 12 9-10-year-old winners' bracket final of the baseball tournament. Colin Holt added two hits for Newberry as well. Newberry came back in the bottom of the sixth facing a 7-6 deficit to win.

South Williamsport won thanks to a 3-run walk off home run in the seventh inning to down Montgomery, 12-11. South Williamsport moves further in the losers' bracket to face Montoursville today, with the winner playing on the Fourth of July against Keystone in the losers' bracket final.
