MANSFIELD - The Lambs Creek Sportsman's Club will hold a youth day and shotgun clinic on July 28. Both events are geared at providing less experienced shooters with instructional time at the range.
From 9 a.m. to noon, children ages 8 to 12 can learn basic safety and shooting skills using 20-gauge shotguns, .22 rifles, BB guns, muzzleloaders and bows.
Equipment will be provided. Parents or guardians must remain at the club while their children are participating.
Hot dogs, chips and fruit will be available at noon.
From 1 to 4 p.m., shooters ages 12 and older can learn how to hit basic sporting targets such as rabbits, crossing, quartering and incoming.
Participants should bring their own shotguns and ammo but no shot larger than size No. 7 1/2.
Shooters will be limited to 25 shots per round but may sign up for as many rounds as time will allow.
Lambs Creek members will be on hand to provide general instruction for anyone interested.
Both events are free to the public, thanks to donations from the National Rifle Association.
