Lois C. Stroble, of Montoursville, passed away peacefully at Valley View Nursing Center on Monday, July 9, 2012. She was 96 years old.
She was born Feb. 6, 1916, in Montoursville, a daughter of Charles B. and Mary Ellen Woodley Entz.
Lois was a 1935 graduate of Montoursville High School and retired in 1975 from the former G.T.E. Sylvania, Montoursville. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Montoursville Garden Club, past worthy matron of the former Rebecca Lodge Montoursville, former Lioness of Montoursville and member of the Montoursville Senior Citizens. Lois was an avid reader and knitter.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth J., who passed away Aug. 16, 2001; a daughter-in-law, Susan Stroble; brothers, Oliver, Granville and Lester Entz; and sisters, Isabelle Sherwood, Pauline Bosch, Flora Schultz and Martha Snyder.
Lois is survived by two sons, Donald K. "Zeb" (Beverly) Stroble of Mechanicsburg and Ronald G. Stroble of Montoursville; a sister, Fern Wertz of Hughesville; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lee Ciccarelli, the staff of Valley View Nursing Center (especially 400 Hall) and the staff of Roseview Center for the loving and compassionate care given to Lois.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Rev. Jean Moyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m.
