R. Thomas Derone, 82, of Williamsport, died Sunday, July 8, 2012, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Williamsport on Nov. 1, 1929, the son of Ralph Thomas and Veda A Miller Derone.
Tom was a retired agent for the Penn Central Railroad. He was also retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. He was a member of the St. Joseph the Worker Parish here in Williamsport. Tom was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 366, a 4th Degree member of the Father Riechsteiner Assemble. He was a member of the Republican Club here in Williamsport and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7863. Tom was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He enjoyed most, his loving family and gardening. He was a jack of all trades and had a great sense of humor. He also loved watching Penn State Football.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rosemary Tolen. His children survive him: Diane (Mark) Kieser and Donna (Steve) Bower, both of Williamsport, and R. Thomas Derone III of Montoursville; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Martin Kieser, Lauren and Steven Bower and Abbie and R.T. Derone IV. Tom was also survived by a sister, Jean Pepperman of Williamsport.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Zerbe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, on Thursday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Shane Kirby will officiate. Friends may call at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Williamsport, or to the St. John Neumann Regional Academy, 901 Penn St., Williamsport.
