Mr., Mrs. Ned Yocum observe 70th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Ned Yocum, Watsontown, will observe their 70th wedding anniversary July 19, 2012.

They were married by the Rev. Klepfer at the home of the bride's parents in Montgomery. They are members of the Christian Missionary Alliance, Watsontown.

Mrs. Yocum, the former M. Lucille Bender, is a native of Allenwood. She is the daughter of the late Marie and Freeman Bender. She attended Watsontown High School from 1936 to 1940 and is a homemaker.

Mr. Yocum, a native of Watsontown, is the son of the late Elsie and Frank Yocum. He attended Watsontown High School from 1937 to 1940. He served in the Air Force during World War II, from 1941 to 1944, and in the South Pacific, Papua New Guinea. He retired in 1974 from the Navy Depot, Mechanicsburg, and also is a member of the Watsontown Fire Department, where he is the oldest living member.

They are the parents of a son, Dennis, and a daughter, Jacquelyn Richart, both of Milton.

There are five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.
