MUNCY - Effective July 1, the Rev. Arlene P. Beechert was appointed as the pastor at Muncy First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St. Previously she served as Williamsport District superintendent for five years.
A native of the Catskill Mountains in New York state, Beechert attended Union Theological Seminary and was ordained an elder in the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1992. Since that time, she has served the congregations of Fishkill and Coxsackie United Methodist Churches and as associate pastor of Greenville Norton Hill United Methodist Church. Her first appointment in the former Central PA Conference (now the Susquehanna Conference) was at Curwensville.
